Hidden Storage in Turkish Beds
Fethiye, Turkey
A large majority of beds, sofas and chairs seen here in Turkey sport a hidden storage compartment, accessed by way of a spring-loaded hinge. I can't help but think that this would perfect for teenagers who are constantly badgered by parents to keep their room tiny. Instead of sweeping it under the bed, just toss it into the compartment!

Gah - these are so awesome. They're really tough to find in Canada. There's an Italian company that sells something similar (gas cylinders instead of springs) at high-end furniture places, for the princely sum of….CAD2400!!! Yes, you read that right. I can either pay mortgage for two months on a Vancouver condo, or buy a bedframe. Needless to say, I'm still sleeping on a storage-less bedframe. And am now envious of Turkish teenagers.
