Tasting Turkish Raki
Bornova, Turkey
The national drink of Turkey is raki, an aniseed-flavored grape brandy, similar to Greek ouzo or French pastis. The clear liquor clouds when water is added to it.
I'd never actually gotten around to trying the stuff until tonight. I actually enjoy the taste of black candy liquorice in moderation, and think this stuff is particularly refreshing and mild, regardless the amount of water added. But I seem to be alone in this, as most take a chaser of water when drinking it.
