Travelvice on Twitter
Kemer, Turkey
In my ongoing attempt to find distraction and keep from properly catching up on my travelogue entries, I've decided to look into Twitter.
I've never been a fan of Twitter, or reading the details of people's 'microblogs'. I'm accustomed to paying for my Internet time by the minute, and I don't really have any friends that use Twitter (nor will I likely attract those people within my sphere of influence to sign up for it). But I do love a good collection of hyperlinks to follow from time to time (such is why I follow Kottke.org).
Frankly, I could really care less what's hot these days in the social networking scene, but I do have a desire to regularly share (and 'archive') links to Web sites that I've come across that have some useful/fun/interesting content on them (…and for one reason or another aren't going to get mentioned in the travelogue). And perhaps instead of e-mailing the occasional gem to friends or adding such links to an ever-expanding collection of the bookmarks filed away in my browser, I just might be able to make some use of Twitter after all.
Modified Twitter RSS feed (faq)
Additionally, I'm looking to automatically mix new blog post notifications and location changes in there as well. Who knows if that'll stay in place or not.
In addition the profile page (which you can find and/or follow me at if you so desire), I've created a modified RSS feed with Yahoo Pipes. It strips out all of the automatically posted travelogue updates, '@' user replies and repetitive excess, leaving you with a nice clean feed without the need of a twitter account.
