One Year Later
Miami Beach, United States

A year ago today I touched down in Miami after a much-anticipated exit from Venezuela and Brazil. It was a year ago today that met up with Tatiana (again), and was hosted by her in South Beach for almost a week… which would ultimately result in our son, Aidric.

It's pretty wild to reflect on how much has changed in the past year alone. I think I'm constantly in awe with the unpredictability of my life since I started all this (travel) in 2005. To go back in time only a single year and meet myself in this place would certainly be an interesting encounter.

I feel like I'm accruing life experiences at a rocket-fueled rate. To go back one year from now and reflect on what I've been exposed to, what I've learned, and where I'm at (mentally and physically), is an intense exercise. Although they sometimes don't feel it in the moment, these are truly magical days where I'm continuously growing, adapting, and learning, while experiencing a whole slew of emotions, and emotional states.

Forget universities. Forget workplaces. These active and reactive times of pleasure and pain grow the spirit and mind at a rate not seen since those years of early childhood development, where endless summers stretched between advancing elementary school grade levels.

To grow—not just age—is a wonderful thing.

So so true. If only one could build a resume from life experiences and not hours wasted away at a desk…
