That's a Big Baby
Miami Beach, United States

100% Heimburger

For those that want to know, we took Aidric in for his first checkup since arriving in the U.S. today. Tatiana told me he was pretty fussy during my recent five-day trip to Los Angeles to see friends whom I met about a decade ago during my undergraduate years (yeesh—10 years already). I returned to Miami in yesterday's early morning hours to find Aidric sporting a shirt Tatiana had made, reading: "100% Heimburger"—playing on Tatiana's running joke that I simply used her to clone myself, as there's obviously nothing Boza there at all.

As for Aidric, Tatiana and I were really wondering how it could be that he was plenty big enough for his 6-9 month clothing already… We knew he was a bit taller than average, but couldn't believe the clothing sizes were as far off for him as have been—originally we just assumed the smaller stature of the Peruvian (clothing) was throwing off the sizing-by-age.

Well, according to the CDC growth charts, Aidric is actually the height and weight of a typical 6 & 1/2 month old, scoring above the 95th percentile for other babies his age! No wonder the kid is consuming so much when he eats. But Aidic isn't chubby; he's seems to sport the perfect amount of baby fat.

Below are two charts (generated online) so that you can see what I'm talking about. Aidric's weight-to-height measurement is absolutely average—50th percentile—it's just that he's reached it about three months ahead of schedule… Which is impressive, given that he's only about 3 & 1/2 months old. He's certainly a big kid.

  • Age: 3.6 months
  • Weight: 13 pounds 20 ounces (7.82 kilos)
  • Length: 26 & 1/2 inches (67.31 centimeters)
  • Head Circumference: 16 inches (40.64 centimeters)

Other than that Aidric got a clean bill of health. He doesn't have any skin problems (like diaper rash) and still sleeps through the night without issue. He's smiling and laughing lots, and uses his (well developed) lungs to either cry at levels thought unimaginable by an infant or squeal with delight. His neck and legs are very powerful, and he has no problems supporting and keeping his head stable, or kicking off his socks and sheets. He'll probably make a keen fĂștbol player. :)
